My first group to Puerto Rico really enjoyed the trip and brought back some wonderful shells.
We snorkeled in San Juan then moved to La Parguera for three days on a boat to the outer reefs
and mangrove islands. The first shell found was our captain's Cymatium raderi, the first one
she had ever found. A beautiful Strombus gigas was also found on that first snorkel, and a
huge red Tulip shell. We paid a visit to the southwest coast of the island before returning
to San Juan. Our last day was spent successfully looking for land snails in a forested area.
If you want to come along, meet me in San Juan and we'll try our best to find some good shells. Hurry - This trip is limited to four or five people! |

Puerto Rico is in the U.S.A. - no need for a passport or to go through customs!
In San Juan we'll stay near the airport so it'll be easy for me to pick you up when you arrive (you make your own air reservations, since so many flights go to San Juan.) San Juan is a modern, bustling city with everything you need there - no need to bring paper supplies or snacks if you don't want to bother with them.
The trip across the island from San Juan goes through lovely country and the forests are particularly beautiful. The town of La Parguera is a tourist resort town, with several dining options. We'll stay at private homes that have comfortable and convenient rooms for tourists.
If the group is interested in land snails, there are many species there and we can stop on our way to collect them and also visit the rain forest for more.
We will be snorkelling only, and you must be able to get in and out of a small boat.
Ready to go? Fill out the reservation form and send a deposit. I will send a list of items to bring six weeks before the trip.
